Adventure to the remote backwoods region of the Cascade Lakes area and enjoy a stop at a lake for a great view and relaxation

Adventurers will experience a fun and bumpy ride that is suitable for both beginners and experience drivers. While driving, climb and see the spectacular lake vista and forest scenery along the way. Expect a fun ride and one short, but difficult hike, if you’re up to it.

The Cascade Lakes are a collection of lakes in central Oregon in the United States. The lakes are found along the east side of the Cascade Range in Deschutes County, Oregon. The lakes begin west of Mount Bachelor, just beyond the Mount Bachelor ski area. The first lake in the chain is Todd Lake. Heading west and south, Todd Lake is followed by Sparks LakeDevils LakeElk LakeHosmer LakeLava LakeLittle Lava LakeCultus Lake and Little Cultus Lake. At the south end of the chain are Crane Prairie ReservoirNorth and South Twin LakesWickiup Reservoir, and Davis Lake.[1]

 

 

From Bend:

  • SW Century Drive (heading towards Mt. Bachelor);

  • Continue on as SW Century Drive turns into Cascade Lakes National Scenic Byway (15 miles);

  • Turn left onto Forest Service Road 45 and stay on for 4 miles

  • Follow to Edison Butte Sno-Park and take right into parking / staging area


From Sunriver:

  • From Abbot Drive (past village) proceed to round-about and take a right on South Century Drive

  • Stay on S. Century drive and it will turn into National Forest Road 40 / Conklin Rd.(heading towards Mt. Bachelor)

  • Turns into NF 45/Edison Ice Cave Road. Follow up to Edison Butte Sno-Park for 3.1 miles

  • Take left off of NF Road 45 into parking lot / staging area

Meet us at the Edison Trailhead! Just 15 minutes from Sunriver, 25 minutes from Bend, come on up to Edison Sno-Park where there is plenty of parking. Look for our trailers and Polaris RZR on far-side of lot.

From Bend:
